El Jardin Master Plan El Jardin Master Plan

Join us in a ministry of hope to the people of Costa Rica, the Ticos:

Development of El Jardín Sagrado (The Sacred Garden) in Orosi, Costa Rica is paramount to the continuing demonstration of God’s Love to the Ticos.  Construction plans and future phases will overcome overcrowding problems and allow the host missionaries to serve more people.  Expanding the camp is greatly needed and will enable them to host additional short-term mission teams from the U.S. and Canada.  Using the camp as a base of operations, these teams will reach out to people living in the urban slums of Costa Rica (called “precarios”) as well as indigenous peoples in remote regions of the country.  Teams serve the Ticos through medical missions, children’s ministry, and other outreaches, bringing the good news of the Gospel and providing critical medical services to the poor.

The camp also serves as a retreat center for national Christians.  Churches use the facility for marriage retreats, leadership conferences, and youth group trips.  El Jardín hosted a group of children from deplorable family situations where one or both parents are drug addicts or are involved in prostitution.  This was a wonderful experience for the kids.  They were able to play and have fun, sing and dance, and learn about Jesus.  The host missionaries hope to host more groups like this in the future.  Finishing the Celebration Center – a large multipurpose building – is essential for continued service of groups like the ones described here.  Plus, a fully developed facility will provide an untold value in the training of missionaries entering the Latin America mission field.

This place known as the Sacred Garden can continue to be a place of blessing and salvation for the Ticos – and be a beacon of help to people throughout Costa Rica.

Please consider becoming a partner in this great ministry.

Phase 1 - Celebration Center
Construction on the multipurpose building is ongoing. eMi helped  with some changes to the building that will make it more functional and more aesthetically pleasing. First, there is going to be three stain glass windows facing the center of the camp (with a courtyard area outside). It should be an amazing backdrop for the chapel area of the building. Second, the electrical work is going to be awesome. The lighting should be great, the stage and sound system will be first class. Third,  a new restroom will be attached to the building (replacing the old, dilapidated one!). The dining area will hold over 100 people. And finally, there will be a huge new supply room replacing the current tiny one.

Phase 2

Phase 2 - First Cabin

The next phase is to begin construction on new cabin dormitories. The ultimate goal is to expand the camp's capacity from 53 to 96. Four new cabins - similar to the two current ones, but bigger and more livable - will be the solution to the expansion needs. In Phase 2 the first cabin will be built and lines for the water and electric will be run in preparation for the other three cabins in a later phase.

Phase 3 - Building

Laundry/Storage

Amber is thrilled about this phase. Presently, we have to haul the linens from the camp up the street to our house to do the wash. With this new building we'll have a laundry room and storage space for all of the sheets and towels.

Phase 4a

Kitchen Remodel

In preparation for the new capacity of the camp, there is a need to expand and remodel the kitchen adding 100 square feet. During this phase work will begin on a workshop area behind the kitchen. Ken's favorite stage!).

Phase 4b

White House Remodel

No, George Bush isn't getting a new office. El Jardin is getting a Welcome Center! With four new dorms coming online, the White House will transform into a reception, meeting, and recreation area. There will be an infirmary room for Nurse Amber and an office for Businessman Nathan.

Phase 4c Phase 4c

Last Three Cabins

This phase finishes the work begun in Phase 2 by adding three more cabin dormitories. With four new cabins and the two existing ones, El Jardin will have a new total capacity of 96. The layout of the cabins is in the shape of a rainbow, circling the beautiful central courtyard area. And their color scheme will match the rainbow theme: green, blue, purple, orange, yellow, and red. What makes the rainbow idea even cooler is that we're building Noah's Ark to go along with it (more on that in a minute)!

Phase 5

 Pastoral Training Center

During this phase the addition of a Pastoral Training Center on the south corner of the camp will begin. This building will have classrooms and meeting areas where training seminars and conferences can take place for pastors and missionaries. There will also be hotel-style rooms for the guests.

Please begin praying for God to provide the funds to make this dream a reality. El Jardin belongs to the Lord. These plans belong to Him as well. We're committing all of this to Him and trusting in His provision.

If you would like to learn more about the "master plan" for El Jardin and how you can get involved in making it happen, please contact us.
