What is Global Outreach Mission Doing?

Dr A.jpg

The ministry in Sierra Leone began in 1980 and was inspired by Dr. Dave Arnold's burden to assist pastors and missionaries. The hands of local pastors at home are joined with national pastors abroad, bringing mutual blessing as churches in America revive and national churches flourish.

At home – Many churches have been stirred to a renewed interest in missions. Scores of short-term missionaries have had their hearts challenged by active ministry in third-world countries.

Abroad – In these relatively short years, we have seen many souls won to Christ. Churches and schools have been built. Hundreds of evangelists, pastors and teachers have been trained. Thousands have been clothed, fed, and given medical assistance in Jesus' Name. These avenues of service have opened the hearts of Muslims, Animists, and even God-Haters, to the glorious Gospel of Christ.  Dr. Arnold joined Global Outreach Mission in January, 2006. The administration assistance provided by the Mission enables him to focus on ministry, and the people are coming to Christ.

Sierra Leone is a small coastal state between Guinea and Liberia on Africa's West coast. The capital is Freetown and is swollen with refugees. The official language is English. The country is rich in natural resources – diamonds, gold, titanium, and iron ore. Despite gross mismanagement and corruption there was some prosperity until 1991. The descent of the country into anarchy caused the economy to collapse. The control of the diamond fields by rebels ensures the continuance of the conflict. Now Sierra Leone is probably the poorest and most desperate country on earth. As the country has freedom of religion Islam has steadily increased in influence, yet the pervasive power of ethnic religions, the occult, secret societies, and Freemasonry underlie the present chaos.

The Bible Institute

Our institutes  train lay people and prospective pastors, teachers, and missionaries. The Institute assists churches in establishing local church Bible institutes and provides Bible and ministry curriculum for pastors, missionaries, and Christian organizations.

Church Planting and Evangelism

Picture or Video 017 172x122.jpg

We assist national pastors in planting churches and train the pastors and church leaders in evangelism and leadership. We utilize the gifts and talents of short term missionaries, visiting  pastors and Christian leaders to train workers, build churches and schools, win the lost, and equip the saints.

Rescue a Child

sl child.jpg

Rescues children from poverty, illiteracy, hopelessness, and ruin.  One infant rescued from a burning pile of hay has now completed secondary school and will enter a vocational school for secretarial training. Deformed children are abandoned or discarded because many in Sierra Leone still believe deformities are the result of witchcraft.  Our desire is to rescue children, no matter what abuse they have endured, and provide a generous helping of love, encouragement, and financial support. We teach these children about Christ and pray they will accept Him into their lives as Savior and Lord at an early age. The Muslim government of Sierra Leone has given us one-third of the children in the country. Our schools teach them Christian principles . We are grateful to the Lord for this opportunity.
