New Year’s 2006

Happy New Year to all of our friends!

No, Paris isn’t burning – and neither are its cars!  Not any more at any rate.   They’re only Christmas lights!   Thanks to all who enquired about our welfare during the riots.  Our neighbourhood stayed quiet, although some of our church members were closer to the excitement than they would have appreciated!

Suzanne:   When she isn’t supervising school work and keeping the family fed, Suzanne has involved herself in more and more ministry.   Finding a part-time job has dropped off her priority list.

She participates in a neighbourhood Bible study group and in the church’s intercession group.   In the area of children’s ministry, she helps coordinate the Sunday School and helps organise the activities of a scout troop.

Peter: Is taking on the challenge of pastoring a larger congregation than he has been used to.  There have been moments of panic, but for the most part, the peace of God reigns.   The key to success in this ministry will be his ability to protect his own walk with God in the midst of the multiple demands placed on him.   The pastoral commitment to this congregation runs through to the summer of 2007, after which all the leadership possibilities for the Asnières[1] church will be re-examined.

Recent highlights of church life:

The Asnières church is full Sunday after Sunday.   The capacity of the sanctuary is about 100 people and we are close to that every week.  For the Christmas programme we went way over the limit and had 130 adults and children crammed in the building.   (photo)

Evangelism in the streets has picked up after several quiet years and a small team has gathered around me.   We’ll go out on Saturday afternoons twice a month with tracts.   Late November the Lord gave an opportunity to take the funeral of a Lutheran lady who lived in our neighbourhood.   Her surviving husband is very active in the city of Asnières and I had the privilege of challenging about 30 people who had little or no contact with the gospel.   Their openness to the Word of God was amazing.

The congregation is blessed with 6 weddings this year!   Praise God that people still believe in marriage – but what a job it is to prepare weddings for everybody!   Getting married isn’t everything.  Two days ago I discovered a case of adultery.  Only the Lord will be able to heal this young family – if they are willing to let Him.

And plans for the next 6 months:

The founding pastor of the church Pierre Egger will be honoured in a commissioning service on January 8 as we commit him and his church planting team to the Lord.   They will be relieved of all responsibilities in Asnières and will be free to devote all their energies to the church planting project in Taverny (suburban town about 20 km north-west of Paris).

A mini “Living waters” programme for people who are carrying hurts from the past and are looking for help from the Lord in January & February.

A 7 week Purpose Driven Life campaign in March and April .

A course based on Neill Anderson’s teaching on spiritual liberty in May and June.

All of these efforts are attempts to lay good spiritual foundations in the church community and to prepare the church for the year 2006-7.  Next year we would like to follow up with extensive leadership training.

We are planning to have elders named in the fall and are praying that the Lord will lead us to appropriate candidates.

A special concern:

A few weeks ago Sylvie Pengaï, the head of our intercession group, told us that she felt she should gather blacks in the community to talk about racism.  We immediately feared the worst.  Were the blacks in the church going to band together as a majority in the church against the whites (15% approx. of the community), bonded by all the pain and the injustice they shared?   Sylvie’s meeting turned out to be very constructive.    I think that most whites have no idea of the depth of the pain and the shame carried by many blacks.   In the Asnières church, there is commitment to building deep fellowship between blacks and whites, but such fellowship is necessarily built on truthful relationships.   I’d like to focus on this theme on our retreat at Pentecost.

This family photo was taken by my mother while on holiday with us this summer.  The younger Browns are learning the technology of their generation.   Christiane chats with friends on internet.   A webcam is now perched on the printer and a little microphone allows them to talk with other internet friends who are so equipped!   They still complain bitterly about the absence of a TV in the house.   That may come in the coming months.  Daddy is terribly slow to make decisions about things like the purchases of dogs and televisions!   By the way, our little tail wagging Zebulon has taken possession of the house - and of our hearts.  Their school work is a challenge this year as they are required to write well organised small essays.

Once again, at the close of yet another year, we can reflect on the Lord’s faithfulness.  We thank Him for your faithfulness as you partner with us in this ministry through your gifts and your prayers – how aware we are of the many prayers made on our behalf.

We wish each of you the Lord’s rich blessings on this new year,

With our love and best wishes,

Peter & Suzanne

The Campbells Romania/Sierra Leone

Dear Friends

In 2005, the Lord led, my wife and I to increase our commitment to unreached people groups around the world, by joining the well established mission organization, Global Outreach Mission founded in 1943.  Today the primary ministry of GOM is evangelism, with a view to establish strong local churches, as well as building the capable national Christian leadership.  To accomplish this task, GOM uses literature, relief aid, radio and Christian education and medical ministries.   This philosophy aligns with our calling.  We will continue to work alongside of Dr. Arnold in Sierra Leone, however with events  unfolding, around the world, we are called to response in meeting the challenge the Lord has  given us, in a matter that best matches the gifts and talents to which He blessed us.  Thus, the Lord has directed me to accept the position as a development director with, GOM.  Tammie and I have pledged to better define our strategy and focus of our calling, as we build our network of support.  This new strategy, we will call the five “R’s”.

Ready- Projects will be ready with clearly written mission statement, operational plan, project estimates, and goals with measured out comings.  Our ministry must be ready to provide a clear picture of the successful programs completed, and plans for the future to those supporting our ministry.  Coming under the umbrella of Global Outreach Mission, will allow us to reach that goal.

Resources-  A recharging of our supporting Churches and individuals;  by providing them with a clear and specific understanding of the steps before us, not a series of calls to meet unexpected needs.  We will be presenting them with a challenge, for fellow believers to adopt elements of our central plan, which we will ask our supporters to pray over and support with people and funds.  We must build partnerships with local pastors and ministries that have beginnings and endings in self-effective ministries.  Thus our supporters can continue to move forward with us to reach new fields and the spreading of the gospel.

Relationships—It’s been said that in Washington D.C. there are thousands of acquaintances but few friends.  Clearly we’ve been able to cultivate meaningful relationships with government officials on many levels in the foreign countries we have traveled to over the last seven years.  This must continue but this time with local American believers creating awareness that we are their ambassadors to these foreign lands.   We will do this by demonstrating an effective linkage and leveraging with groups already in the countries and national Christian leaders in the field.

Representation— In today’s world numbers count; in other words, the depth and width of your network translates into the depth and width of potential influence and ability to reach out.  We need to look at networking with others within the Christian community worldwide so we can match resources with needs including the Gospel.

Results—By connecting to faithful Christians, such as yourselves we can become prepared to present worthy programs and projects, to reach the lost peoples, and support national believers in these countries. Within the base of GOM our individual callings can be best supported to allow us to serve Him.  This is the moment for the Church to take its rightful and responsible place as the caregivers, mentors and agents of hope.  It is time that we show the World we have the source of their hope.

Please, help us today, to build each of our national ministries to a self sustaining level with the help of like minded people.  As stewards of Gods resources we must use the best practices in development of an operational strategy that allows us to march forward, not stopping and starting while the supplies reach the front lines.

We can not do this alone; only with your direct help can we stand in the gap of the battle between the light and darkness of this world.  Please prayerfully review the enclosed prayer card and pledge card.  It is equally important that we receive help in the building of our network or relationships, by inviting us to your church or considering a small meeting in your home with liked minded believers, or local Bible study groups.  We have media presentations on Sierra Leone, Romania and China which we would be happy to share with community groups or clubs.  Contact us today and help us reach our goal of full time service this year.

In His Service

Friends and Partners,

God worked yet another miracle in my life and at age 50 brought His servant Rev. B.M. Sudheer into my life. Sudheer and I were married on Jan 5, 2007. I am now on a three year study leave from my Diocese and church. The Lord led us to move to a very very hot Guntur to begin our life and ministry together. We have experienced upto 49c this past month and this week 44c has been average. One can’t even sit on any surface without wanting to jump right up because everything is hot even inside the house. Today one of our newscasters was advising a new way of boiling an egg – just take normal tap water and pop an egg in it and set it out on the house porch and within no time one could have a hard boiled egg, and this is no joking matter for us! But by God’s grace, we have not burrowed inside our air cooled room (we have one in the house!) in fact Sudheer and I have been on the road for almost all of May. In the past two months we have covered 6000+ Kilometers.

Our travel was not all “work” God in His mercy first gave us a wonderful belated Honeymoon trip to Vishakapatnam a beautiful costal city in our state, the first week of May. My friend from Wheaton Jennifer Weiss-Frake and her husband Tom invited us for a week to their home. We did a 7 hour road trip to the coast. Highway 5 is one of the most scenic in India. In certain parts it felt like we were on Singapore-Malaysia highway. Jennifer who is pregnant with their second child, Tom and their first born Lily gave us a wonderful fun-filled, relaxing time, an overdue vacation for both Sudheer and I. Neither of us has had one in many many years. We thank God for these loving friends with a generous servant heart. We are grateful to God and to them for the rest and energy we have received from this trip and the special bonding time Sudheer and I had.

Sudheer is Functional Advisor to 23 rural congregations. So from May 10th to June 10th we visited many villages and ministered in almost all of the churches under his pastoral care. We had meetings at all times of the day and night often doing two meetings a day and on weekends even managing three a day finishing the last one around midnight. The privilege and blessings have been uncountable.

Well this note is just an appetizer—if you want to get the stories and pictures then log onto my website: www.eaglewingsinternational.org and download my latest newsletter “SPRING 2007” (it’s a PDF file). I started writing it in Spring but thank God I finished it before the end of summer!

I also want you to take time to open the page for IMPACT the vision and mission which Sudheer has poured himself into and now it is my portion also. This will give you an insight into our life mission and goal and cause you to pray for us with understanding.

Thank you,

Gripped by the Lord,Regina Sudheer-Alexander

Our calling is evangelism among professional drivers throughout greater Europe: From England to Ukraine and from Norway to Spain, covering the whole continent. This happens by trying to get in contact with the drivers at borders, truck stops and parking. We use Bibles, New Testaments, Gospel of John, other Gospel literature, Audio tapes, CD 's in the 25 official languages of the continent. Drivers of more countries are involved.

We also give opportunity to the Dutch drivers and their families to meet with Christian colleagues. For this end we organize 'Drivers Days'
(twice a year, in Spring and in Autumn). For the Dutch we have a 20 pages quarterly issue 'Wegwijzer' ('Sign Post')

Trough our Internet Site we get in contact with drivers from all over the world.
