The drilling equipment arrived in Sierra Leone in mid-February 2010, and the drill team arrived on February 25, 2010. The first 84′ water well is complete, and is delivering 10 gallons of fresh, clean water per minute. The drilling rig has completed two wells in Mokanji at the Hospital site. In January drilling drilling started again and as added six good production wells as the writing of this page, and continues to drill wells. This project has been brought together, with a great alliance of people from Western New York.
Update: 29 wells have now been completed, opportunities are available for skilled drillers to travel to Sierra Leone to be part of this project.
Let Them Laugh Out Loud, has been a very important partner in raising awareness of the needs and ways to connect to this great ministry to bring clean water to Sierra Leone, follow the link below for more information about their projects and connections to the targeted areas in Sierra Leone.

Immediate Need
The country of Sierra Leone has been devastated by a Civil War that lasted over ten years and ended in 2002. The war displaced half of the population and devastated the country’s infrastructure. After the war, Sierra Leoneans made their way back home to find their villages shattered and in urgent need of repair. Today, 70% of the population live below the poverty level and life expectancy is just 42 years. The mortality rate for mothers is the highest in the world and nearly one third of all children born alive never reach the age of five.
Global Outreach Mission has been ministering in the country of Sierra Leone and has planting churches and has influence in Christian schools. We want to help the people of Sierra Leone to rebuild their lives and to look forward to a better future. Their greatest and most urgent need is clean water.
In rural areas in particular, much of the population has no option but to drink from unsafe streams, contaminated by animal and human waste. Diarrhea is now the second largest killer of children under five, second only to Malaria. We are looking for skilled well driller to come and work in the field and help train more national workers. As more wells go into production, the need for replacement parts for the drilling equipment become a high priority. We are preparing shipping containers in North America and need financial support for the shipment of these containers.
The Project
Global Outreach Mission’s Clean Water Project focuses on integrated water and sanitation programs. We are have sent well-drilling equipment to Sierra Leone to drill the wells. This has enabled the production of clean water wells in several villages and many more are in the works. Our pastors and Christian teachers are conducting health education within the community to promote the use of latrines. We will give each village equipment to maintain the well and also the knowledge of how to protect the clean water source from contamination. We will need partners to help us complete this great need. Global Outreach Mission’s Clean Water Project initiative is to drill wells, develop community water companies, and teach health education in the name of Christ. The financial need to accomplish this is $55,000. a year We are trusting the Lord for funds to make this project a sustainable outreach where the water companies will become self-sufficient and will continue to produce clean water for years to come. With your help, Global Outreach Mission’s Clean Water Project can affect change every day to improve the quality of life for millions of people who live in Sierra Leone.
