Mr. Matthew B. Herdzik, Jr. serves as a lawyer in Buffalo, NY. He graduated from SUNY at Buffalo with a degree in Economics and Political Science. He then went on to Law School at Ohio Northern University. In 1980, Matt was admitted to the New York State Bar. After 16 years of working for several law firms, he opened his own law firm. His practice has been recognized by Volunteer Lawyer’s Project multiple times, along with Matt being recognized by the New York State Bar Association as Pro Bono Lawyer for the New York State 8thJudicial District in 2005 and 2013. He was also the initial recipient of the Father Joseph Bissonnette Award for Pro Bono Legal Work in 2013.
Along with his work as a lawyer, Matt also has a sincere and passionate heart for Christian ministry. He accepted Jesus Christ, by grace and through faith, as his personal Savior in 1975. Since then, he has sought how to intentionally influence the lives around him for Christ. Matt has taught Sunday School for teens and adults for over 40 years, has worked in teen ministry for over 30 years, filled the pulpit at 5 different churches, and now currently serves as interim pastor of First Baptist Church of Great Valley, New York.
He has been a MissionGO board member for over 20 years, chairing for the last 13. He formerly served on the Buffalo City Mission Board of Directors for several years, and now serves on the Child Evangelism Fellowship of Buffalo Committee.
He is married to his wonderful wife Barbara of 43 years, and they have two grown children, Michael and Karla.
