Sierra Leone Truck Project

Sierra Leone Truck Project

Recently, Tammie and I were in Sierra Leone accompanied by a team of well-drillers. We traveled to Mokanji in our ministry vehicle with the team, along with other critical supplies, to accomplish our ministry goals. One of the goals was building a new water tower that has the capacity to expand access to water by fivefold!

During this trip, we realized that this nearly 20-year-old Land Cruiser had reached the end of its reliability.

Back in 2007, this used Toyota Land Cruiser with a diesel engine was purchased for our ministry in Sierra Leone. Over the years, this vehicle was a reliable transport between the capital city of Freetown and the challenging five-hour route over rugged terrain to our Mokanji outreach.

As a standby truck was nonexistent on the compound, we had no other choice but to hire another vehicle and driver to meet scheduled ministry deadlines this month. This was a costly expense and is not cost-efficient in the long run.

We are making an urgent appeal to fund a used crew cab four-wheel-drive pickup. A replacement vehicle is much-needed, as unexpected emergencies may arise for those living on the compound—and as short-term teams are scheduled to arrive for spring and summer ministry! We need to act as soon as possible to purchase a vehicle in advance of their arrival. We have defined a budget of $25,000 for the replacement of our primary transportation.

1)        That a reliable vehicle will be found to meet this need.

2)        That hearts will be touched to help us replace this critical asset.

The demand has come at the same time as we are replacing the roof of our primary high school with over 1500 students before the rainy season this August.

Any financial support for this project will come at a critical time and will be received as a huge blessing from the Lord.

As an update, funds were recently requested for ultrasound equipment to meet the needs of the medical clinic. With the help of some friends and Calvary Bible Fellowship of Port Elizabeth, this need has been met, along with additional training. We continue to move forward in this ministry as the Lord provides new avenues for outreach.

“He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.”

I Thessalonians 5:24

Please consider partnering with us to meet this need.
