The waters from the recent monsoon floods have in South Asia have affected 41 million people in Bangladesh, India, and Nepal, resulting in more than 1,200 deaths. The flood waters have now receded, however, the people are still reeling from its effects. In Nepal, it was reported that more than 27,000 cases of malaria and dengue have been registered during the first week of September.

“This is fast becoming one of the most serious humanitarian crises this region has seen in many years and urgent action is needed to meet the growing needs of millions of people affected by these devastating floods,” said Martin Faller, Deputy Regional Director for Asia Pacific, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

Hundreds of thousands of people will be without a home for many months (years?) because their homes have been devastated by the flood. For these people, there is nothing to fall back on as they will have to cope without insurance money or government assistance to replace their homes – nothing!

In Nepal, 89 percent of the fields were destroyed in the flood-affected regions. We would like to assist flood victims in at least a small way in Nepal.

The needs are numerous and steep but we would like to help some of the people. One need is for bed nets. Mosquitoes are a big problem always in Nepal and the situation has been made worse as a result of the flood. Victims would also need blankets as they would be exposed to the elements as the colder weather approaches.

Please help us to purchase mosquito nets and blankets. We would like to make these bed nets available for individuals and families.

  • $100 could purchase 7 blankets.
  • $150 could purchase 15 bed-nets.
  • $25 could purchase 1 blanket and 1 bed-net.

Your donation would make a big difference to lives of individuals and families. Please give generously.

Thanks in advance!
