02 Christopher Conteh
Christopher lives with his paternal grandparents, who have had no formal education and are not able to help him study at home. His dad lives in Mokanji but does not live with Christopher. His mom has a job two hours away, so she does not see him very often. His maternal grandparents are strong Christians, and both are teachers in local schools.
Christopher is a handful, but he is so loved! You can see by his smile that he is a very lovable guy. He works so hard, but still doesn’t know his vowel sounds and cannot identify the numbers 1-5. And yet he tries, and doesn’t get discouraged. During the first month, the other students laughed at the mess he made of his coloring pages… but not anymore. He takes his coloring seriously, and is so proud of his work. He loves being at FCA because he gets to play with his friends. And if you ask, “What is the best thing about Christopher?” he will tell you that he can ride a bicycle. He is such a happy fella; he brightens the day!
