Children's Primary School in India

Send a Note Start a Campaign

Great Commission Ministries

Great Commission Ministries was birthed in 1994 with the aim of reaching out to the gypsy and Dalit communities with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and uplifting the poorest of the poor community.

-Orphan Home and Education: This was started at Bhongir in the Nalgonda District of Telangana, with a vision of helping the orphans in India. (There are approximately 30 million orphans in India!) We prayed to God and started picking up the desperate orphans. Currently, we have 71 orphan children in our Ashir Children’s Home. Over 300 children have graduated from the orphanage in the past three decades. They are well settled now, living Christ-centered lives.

Ashir Mission School

Current Situation:

  • Over 80% of the children under the age of 15 are sent to work, as their daily income is an additional support for the family.
  • Our main focus is on the Dalit communities (who are also called the untouchables), the neglected tribal communities, and the remote villages around the orphanage.
  • The children from the orphanage go to government schools; especially the children under Class 6, and the education provided is not as adequate as the private schools.

 Objectives:

  • This project will provide access to a globally recognized standard of education, potentially opening doors to higher education and better career opportunities for children at a very affordable price.
  • Our literacy rates will increase by providing accessible education. The school will contribute to higher literacy rates within the community—this will lead to greater social and economic empowerment.
  • Skilled workforce: Educated children grow into skilled and productive members of society—this contributes to economic growth and development.

The Fruit of the Project

  • School Access to All:
    • The fee structure will be affordable to the communities.
    • The children from the orphanage will have a quality education from the school.
    • In the near future as we expand, this will also generate support for the orphan children.
  • Staff:
    • We have a teaching staff that is well-qualified to teach in the primary school.
    • Local teachers will also be considered for teaching positions.

The construction of the school building is necessary to meet the future needs of our children and community. This project will provide a modern, safe, and conducive learning environment that will enhance the quality of education and empower our students to achieve their full potential. This project is a major step toward the education of future generations.

Testimonies

Tarun, a child from the Dalit community, was not encouraged to go to school at an early age. Instead, he was sent to work as a daily wage laborer in the village. He discontinued his schooling at 4th grade. Today, Tarun is working at a gas station at a full-time job with no career prospects. Stories and testimonies like this make other castes look down on the Dalit community.

In contrast, Chandu, a child from our orphanage, was brought to us when he was in 3rd grade, along with his older brother. We encouraged and supported his education; he began to realize the importance of a Christian education and studied hard. He stood at the top of the class in the district in the 10th grade. He will complete a 6-year Integrated Engineering course in 2026. Upon graduation, he will have the assurance of a job, with a package starting from 12 Lacs per annum ($14,000 USD approx.). This is a high rate by Indian standards.

Both Tarun and Chandu are the same age but have different lives. Tarun and the family were uninformed of how a Christian education could give them a good career—whereas Chandu had the proper guidance and support.

Our aim is to provide opportunities for education regardless of the caste or economic status.

We believe this project will provide greater educational opportunities for all of the students from the orphanage and the surrounding communities. Your consideration and support for this project will uplift the future of the children.

GAP STUDENTS

Supporting a gap year student is an investment in a young person stepping boldly into the world to grow, serve, and discover their calling. During a gap year, students gain real‑world experience, develop maturity, and engage in meaningful work. As they serve, they deepen their relationship with God, seek His direction, and better understand the unique purpose He has for their lives.
