Dr. Pedro (Tito) Palacios, the founder of La Misión, received his call into God’s service in 2006. He was originally commissioned by America Latina School to start a program for medical students providing medical clinics throughout Guatemala.

The office of La Misión is based in Guatemala City; however, our mobile medical clinics travel throughout the country approximately thirty weeks of the year providing health care to the Guatemalan people. The months of June through August are the busiest of the year with La Misión staff and volunteer short-term mission teams from the United States visiting each of the clinical locations. Although a large part of the clinical services occur during “clinic season,” the clinical team regularly visits each area throughout the year for follow‐up appointments and health care sessions as needed. While visiting each location, we partner with local churches to help encourage, equip, and disciple leaders who will impact many in their communities for generations ahead.

As La Misión continues to grow, God has put it on our hearts to expand the ministry beyond clinics. Currently, La Misión operates a school in Palencia with students enrolled in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. We hope to expand this part of the ministry into high school as the Lord provides.

We pray that our network and partnerships with God-inspired, creative people like you continues the expansion of the Kingdom of God through serving with La Misión. We welcome interns and volunteers of all kinds, and you do not necessarily need to have medical or dental background to assist in the clinics and day‐to‐day duties. All we ask for is that you have a heart ready to serve the Lord and Guatemala!

We promote the integral development of the Guatemalan communities in need, guiding and empowering each individual, so they can know God and fulfill their purpose in their lives and communities.

To God be the glory!

GAP STUDENTS

Supporting a gap year student is an investment in a young person stepping boldly into the world to grow, serve, and discover their calling. During a gap year, students gain real‑world experience, develop maturity, and engage in meaningful work. As they serve, they deepen their relationship with God, seek His direction, and better understand the unique purpose He has for their lives.
