Vijay Babu’s life was shaken early. Both of his parents passed away, and within just three days of their death, relatives began discussing how to separate Vijay and his brother because of the burden that it would carry. What should have been a time of mourning became a moment of uncertainty and fear. Through intervention, the brothers were brought into the children’s home in 2012 together. That decision protected not only their bond, but their future.
Vijay grew into a focused and determined young man. Recognized for his academic merit, we sought admission for him into IIT Basara University, one of the largest state-run universities, which admits only 1,500 students per year.
At first, the doors were closed but after multiple visits and waiting, we were finally granted a meeting with the Education minister’s office. Vijay’s story was shared not as a request for sympathy, but as a case for opportunity. A meeting was held among themselves in regard to his case and what came out of that meeting was a historic decision.
Beyond the regular 1,500 seats, five additional seats would now be created and allocated each year specifically for orphaned children.and Vijay became the 1501st student. His admission not only change his life — it opened a pathway for orphaned children every year to enter one of the most prestigious institutions in the state.
Today, Vijay pursues his B.Tech while mentoring younger children and using his photography skills to serve the home. His journey is no longer of abandonment to achievement.
It is abandonment transformed into access.
It is survival turned into structural change.
It is one life becoming a doorway for many.
Would you consider standing with Vijay as he continues proving that when opportunity meets perseverance, it does more than lift one child — it reshapes the future for many?
