Moses and Karen Lubbers-Odel
Mission & Vision
We live and serve in a young nation that calls itself “Christian,” yet wrestles with deep-rooted challenges of corruption, poverty, distorted theologies, heresies disguised as the Gospel, and the false promises of prosperity preaching. Add to that poor education, broken health systems, political tension, shifting weather patterns, and cultural confusion brought on by rapid technological change and negative western culture.
Our Vision: To see stronger partnerships with the local churches; to equip and mentor young people in the Bible; to raise up a generation of Christ followers who will reproduce themselves to transform a community!
Our Mission: To give every man, woman, and child multiple opportunities to hear, see, and respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, discipling them in the Word of God.
Ministry in Uganda
We, Moses and Karen, are passionately engaged in pastoral ministry at University Community Church, men’s and women’s fellowship groups, training church leaders (using Timothy Leadership Training - TLT and Helping Without Hurting in Africa - HWHIA manuals) and coaching teachers in Scripture, creative teaching, and lesson planning (through Educational Care -EC). Our hearts beat for true worship and music ministry—discipling young people and worship leaders to encounter God deeply and lead others with authenticity. We are also engaging in friendship evangelism with people of other faiths. Of course, prayer is the backbone of everything we do.
MissionGO graciously empowers us to serve under their covering, and we are equally honored to partner with Resonate Global Mission. Together, we are advancing the Gospel and witnessing lives and communities transformed by its power.
Our dreams may seem too big for us — but not for our BIG GOD OH! (as we often sing in Uganda!). We dream of establishing a youth training centre that will offer music coaching, a radio station dedicated to the Gospel, and training in tailoring, cooking, and welding skills; a nursery and primary school; as well as a possible future church plant—all to the glory of God and the transformation of a generation.
About Karen and Moses
From a young age, Karen’s heart belonged to Jesus. Her dream was simple yet profound—to serve God wherever He led. While studying at Kuyper College, she met Kenyan and Ugandan students who encouraged her to come to East Africa. In 2009, God made that dream a reality, and by 2011, Uganda had become her full-time mission field and her second home.
Moses’ faith journey began as a teenager when his late father—a former Anglican priest—led him to Christ. His heart for service took root as he volunteered with ministries like Christian Aid, Global Care UK, New Hope Uganda, World Vision, and YWAM. After earning his Master of Divinity from Uganda Christian University in 2016, he was ordained as a pastor. Between 2017 and 2019, he served in the corporate world as a Human Resource Manager at an IT and forensics firm, but God has since called him back to his first love—ministry and discipleship.
In 2013, God crossed Moses and Karen’s paths through the Oil of Gladness music ministry that Moses helped start. Their shared love for worship and discipleship often brought them together at youth conferences, music worship events, Timothy Leadership Training, and OneHope training sessions. What began as ministry partnership blossomed into love, and on November 16, 2019, they were united in marriage. Together, they joyfully serve as a team for God’s glory, and Karen has lovingly stepped into her role as stepmom to two precious daughters, Sarah and Rebecca.
Thank You
We give all praise to God for the amazing things and blessings He is doing in Uganda and around the world! It’s a blessing and an honor to serve Him and an even greater blessing to have you on this journey with us.
We couldn’t have come this far without your active and practical involvement in this shared vision. We are privileged to be your ears, eyes, and hands on the ground, with you silently working alongside us through the Lord’s power and grace. Every step of progress is a testimony of what God can do through your partnership.
Your generosity, prayers, and encouragement are powerful tools in God’s hands that can bring real change to lives weighed down by poverty and brokenness. Together, through God’s grace, let us witness transformation—one life, one community at a time. Thank you for partnering with us in this mission!
