Shelley Hernández, co-founder of the Pathway to Jesus school, presently is the Executive Director of the school and serves on the Board of Directors. She is currently living in the United States so she can receive treatment for her Multiple Myeloma cancer, but continues to work full-time in the ministry.

The Pathway to Jesus school was founded in 2003. The mission of the school is to provide an excellent Christian education to the students, giving each child and their family the opportunity to know Christ. The school is located in Sabaneta de Las Palomas, which is a semi-rural area situated just outside the city of Santiago, Dominican Republic. Sabaneta is a low/no income tight-knit community. There are more and more families that are bettering their economic situation; however, it is a challenge for families to find a good private school they can afford. The electricity goes off daily and there are days where there is no running water either. The education offered at the public schools is poor and there aren't many Christian schools available, let alone ones people can afford. The Pathway to Jesus School offers a very good academic program at a very reasonable price, therefore, providing an excellent education. It also focuses on evangelizing to the students and their families, giving them the opportunity to know Christ and the plan of salvation.

GAP STUDENTS

Supporting a gap year student is an investment in a young person stepping boldly into the world to grow, serve, and discover their calling. During a gap year, students gain real‑world experience, develop maturity, and engage in meaningful work. As they serve, they deepen their relationship with God, seek His direction, and better understand the unique purpose He has for their lives.
