El Jardin Sagrado, Orosi Valley: An Urgent Appeal for Gospel Partnership

Welcome to El Jardin Sagrado (The Sacred Garden), dedicated to the Glory of God, a transformative Christian Celebration Center and Campus nestled in the picturesque Orosi Valley of Costa Rica. We are issuing a heartfelt appeal for fellow believers to join us in advancing the Gospel in this strategic and spiritually receptive community.

Our Vision: A Hub for Gospel Transformation

Our overarching mission is to serve as a vibrant hub of faith and fellowship dedicated to uniting local Gospel-believing churches, fostering outreach to non-believers, and nurturing spiritual growth. We are committed to empowering believers to share their faith and creating a lasting impact on the spiritual landscape of Costa Rica.

The MissionGO campus, located at the entrance of Altos de Araya, has been strategically positioned to support this work. The property is viewed as an essential missionary outpost for affordable, practical theological training.

The Urgent Need in Orosi Valley

The Orosi Valley presents exceptional opportunities for Gospel outreach and missionary activities. This region, about 37 miles from San José and 5 miles southeast of Cartago, is ripe for ministry due to:

  • Extraordinary Spiritual Hunger: Recent ministry efforts have revealed the remarkable spiritual receptivity of the local population. For example, Bible studies have been scheduled with approximately 25 interested women with almost no effort, demonstrating a strong desire for a substantive Biblical foundation.
  • A Growing Evangelical Population: The evangelical population in Costa Rica has grown to approximately 33% of the country’s residents, a shift that has created unprecedented opportunities for outreach and direct scriptural engagement.
  • The Need for Training: The Central American Church network in Costa Rica faces a critical 40% shortfall in qualified pastors. The campus is ideally situated to address this deficit by serving as a regional training hub for young Christian men craving affordable and practical ministry preparation.

Partnering with Local Believers

The facilities are actively used in collaboration with local believers. The campus has become a haven for kids, young adults, and women to gather, grow, and be discipled.

We invite Christians from North America to join us in this vital mission, creating a rich tapestry of community that transcends borders. Your partnership will directly strengthen our capacity to:

  • Host Short-Term Mission Teams: The campus is a welcoming place for North American churches and serves as a hub for cultural exchange and ministry. The facilities are being assessed to accommodate short-term teams, potentially up to 24 people.
  • Support Local Ministry: We foster relationships with local Gospel-believing churches to create a collaborative network. We aim to develop programs that align with their needs and interests.
  • Address Community Needs: We plan to leverage the campus to conduct community events, provide educational outreach (such as English as a Second Language or computer literacy training), and potentially support integrated ministry approaches like healthcare and social services.

The Campus Facilities and Renovation Needs

The property already contains structures crucial for ministry!

  • Auditorium and Cabins: On a 14,068.02 m² lot, there is a large property including an one-level Auditorium(264 m²), four cabins with private baths (totaling 640 m²), a two-bedroom house (80 m²), a rancho, and areas for football, gardens, and trails.

The properties are located in a rural zone with basic services, including potable water (municipal/ASADA), electricity (CNFL), and transportation access.

While the MissionGO buildings remain standing strong despite past flooding, the campus facilities are in urgent need of repairs and upgrades to preserve them and maximize ministry effectiveness for 2026 and beyond.

We are prayerfully seeking support to accomplish these goals. Key needs for partnership and provision include:

Need Category

Specific Project Details

Financial Support (Immediate Goals)

We aim to raise $12,000 to enhance our ministry capacity and provide a space for training, worship, fellowship, and discipleship.

Accommodation Repairs

The missionary house still requires roofing, electrical, exterior, and interior finishes (though some kitchen and ceiling improvements have been completed).

Team Projects (Physical Labor)

Short-term groups are needed for projects such as repairing additional fencing and gates, installing screens on the windows of two cabins, and establishing a campfire area closer to the main camp area.

Operational

Resources

Needs include new mattresses (2-3 double/queen) and a washer/dryer for the main campus.

Every gift given toward this project will directly strengthen the ministry capacity of MissionGO in Orosi. Join us in cultivating a generation that recognizes the truth of the Gospel!
