Our Missionaries Are on the Ground in the Philippines Earthquake

Urgent: Our Missionaries Are on the Ground in the Philippines Earthquake — Will You Help?

This morning, the ground in the southern Philippines shook with a force few have ever felt. A powerful magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck off the island of Mindanao at 7:37 a.m. local time, near the city of General Santos. Buildings collapsed. A landslide buried homes in the mountains of Sarangani. A tsunami rolled into coastal villages. As of this writing, at least 32 people have died, more than 200 are injured, and thousands of families have been displaced from everything they own.

And in the middle of it all, MissionGO is there!

We have missionaries on the ground right now. One of our own sent word from the heart of the disaster zone:

“Prayers for our region. Major earthquake. We are safe. No power. We are on solar. Massive damage in some areas.”

They are safe — thanks be to God — but they are surrounded by neighbors who are not. Power is out. Communications are down. More than 180 aftershocks have rattled the region today alone, some strong enough to topple already-weakened walls. Schools had just reopened that very morning; children fled into the streets in fear. This is the moment our missionaries were called for. This is the moment the love of Christ must be seen, not just spoken.

This is what it means to be on the front lines. When the world runs out, our people run in — with water, with food, with shelter, with prayer, and with the steady, healing presence of Jesus to a people in shock.

But they cannot do it alone. They need us.

Will you stand with our missionaries today? Every gift — large or small — becomes clean water, a warm meal, a tarp over a family’s head, and the hands and feet of Christ to those who have lost everything. We have never been more convinced of the calling on this ministry than we are today. While agencies assess and governments mobilize, our missionaries are already there — because they never left. That is the difference your support makes and that is what your partnership built!

Please do three things today:

  • Pray — for the region, for the grieving, for the trapped and the missing, and for the strength and safety of our team.
  • Give — at the link above, so relief can reach the suffering now, while the need is greatest.
  • Share — forward this message to others who love the Lord and long to make a difference.

“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”  (Galatians 6:2)

Thank you for caring! Thank you for giving! Thank you for being the kind of family that shows up when it matters most!

GAP STUDENTS

Supporting a gap year student is an investment in a young person stepping boldly into the world to grow, serve, and discover their calling. During a gap year, students gain real‑world experience, develop maturity, and engage in meaningful work. As they serve, they deepen their relationship with God, seek His direction, and better understand the unique purpose He has for their lives.
