I have been working with the social services in Belize since 2004 and many children have come through my home. Some have moved on and many still come back to visit.

In December of 2015, a social worker brought 22-month-old Tino into my care. He has microcephaly and is a ray of sunshine. Tino requires complete care, which becomes more challenging as he grows since he is unable to walk or help himself. This is when the vision of a home for those with special needs came to me. With Tino in my care, it gave many parents the boldness to come and talk to me about the child they had with special needs. Special needs come in all different forms―physical limitations, difficulty with making decisions, and those who are vulnerable and taken advantage of.

My vision is to bring children that need a forever home to a place with space for them to move around, as well as lifts to assist in transferring them without injuring ourselves. With future expansion, the home would provide a respite for parents that need a temporary break.

Our desire is to be the hands and feet of Jesus, loving and caring for others with the love of God. As God provides workers, we pray that we can teach them to live up to their God-given potential.

We have a property where we can build! Lord willing, we hope to start the foundation in the next couple of months.

We have been raising funds to help with the building project, and we also ask that you pray with us for God to bring us workers that feel a strong calling to help others with special needs.

The name of this home and ministry will be Casa De Shalom, which means, “House of Peace.”

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 19:14)

GAP STUDENTS

Supporting a gap year student is an investment in a young person stepping boldly into the world to grow, serve, and discover their calling. During a gap year, students gain real‑world experience, develop maturity, and engage in meaningful work. As they serve, they deepen their relationship with God, seek His direction, and better understand the unique purpose He has for their lives.
