Children & Family Ministry Director(s) Curacao

Location: Fuik, Curaçao

Dates: Ideally, this is a long-term opportunity that requires a commitment of at least two years.

Serving: Primarily local children, also single mothers, grandmothers, some fathers.

Description:  Fundashon Amigunan di Christo is a ministry on the east side of the island of Curaçao.  Missionaries there are praying for an individual or couple who is called to work in a 2nd world country and to set up a ministry to youth and children in barrios filled with children and young people from poor families who are dealing with a great deal of neglect and abuse.

A local couple who lives in Fuik has been ministering alongside local churches to about 130 children each day who come for school help, educational activities, and spiritual formation.  This couple is willing to work alongside a missionary helping them to build a relationship with the local people, learn the language, and support the development of a renewed youth ministry.  AWANA is currently a program being used to share the love of Jesus.

It’s recommended that applicants to this opportunity have experience working with international and mixed cultures.  The native language in Fuik is Papiamentu, although Spanish and Dutch are also spoken.  The first year of ministry would require learning native Papiamentu as most kids are not able to communicate in English.  Given that many of the children are without male role models, a male presence would also be a good thing.

If you are looking to live among the people and strengthen the church in Curacao; we would love for you to initiate an application with us.  There is room to develop sports ministry, strengthen the existing children's club, use art, drama, and/or music, start Bible studies and small groups, visit and encourage parents, and more.

Additional Notes:

Click Get Started to initiate an application to serve in this capacity.  If you are applying as a couple, both of you will need to initiate an application.

Check out FundashonAmigunan di Cristo on Facebook to see some of what is already happening.

Please note: all positions listed are for missionary status which means that the approved candidate would be responsible to raise their support. If you have any questions about this, please fill out this "Ask a Question" contact form.

GAP STUDENTS

Supporting a gap year student is an investment in a young person stepping boldly into the world to grow, serve, and discover their calling. During a gap year, students gain real‑world experience, develop maturity, and engage in meaningful work. As they serve, they deepen their relationship with God, seek His direction, and better understand the unique purpose He has for their lives.
