Dentist Careers - Sierra Leone

Overview

To glorify God through serving as a missionary dentist at the Mokanji Medical Clinic, a Christian clinic in Mokanji, Sierra Leone.  Global Outreach Mission has been ministering through the provision of modular pastoral training, clean water well drilling, and girl’s mentoring program.  It is reported that the entire nation of Sierra Leone has 6 dentists.  By ministering through the provision of oral health, a missionary dentist can anticipate excellent health and spiritual outcomes.  Join with our existing team, ministry, and infrastructure and see God work.      

Requirements

  • Doctorate from an accredited school in the United States or Canada
  • Licensed to practice dentistry in the USA or Canada
  • Work Experience as a Dentist
  • Comfortable working in a resource-limited and sometimes austere environment

Responsibilities

  • The clinic aims to offer healing to the whole person, integrating physical, social, and spiritual treatment as needed.  To provide basic dental services to the people of the region. 
  • Provide primary oral health care to community members including comprehensive exams, diagnosis of dental diseases, and administers or directs others in providing appropriate dental treatment. In cases where the clinic does not provide a needed service, referral to appropriate specialty centers is required.
  • Development and implementation of clinical protocols and guidelines per rules and guidelines of the Sierra Leone Ministry of Health.
  • Responsible for training or delegation of training to clinical staff.
  • Assures delivery of quality of services to all patients seen including when short-term teams are present at the dental clinic.
  • Maintains relationships with local schools, churches, and other groups to provide outreach opportunities when short-term teams are present.
  • Designs, develops and implements any new outreach programs of interest.

Remuneration

Financial Support: Position requires raising your own support.

Through training, coaching, member care, communication platforms, and administration, the GOM team provides a suite of services for missionaries.
