Study Abroad - Gap Year Program

GAP Year Program

Our GAP Year Program will provide Bible and Spanish classes and hands-on ministry experience.  It is for high school graduates ages 17-22.

Arrive in Costa Rica - September 10, 2026
Christmas Break - December 12, 2026 - January 9, 2027
Return to the US - April 10, 2027

Approximate Cost: USD $15,500 plus airfare.

The GAP Year Program provides a unique opportunity for students aged 17-22 to experience a different culture and learn things they never would by staying “home”. The GAP Year will give each student an opportunity to grow closer to God while also discovering or confirming what God created them to be. Students will be surrounded by others pursuing the same goal and living in a great faith community. Students will learn Spanish taught by native speakers and will experience ministry settings where they can practice what they are learning. Bible classes will be inductive as well as conversational, where their faith will become grounded.

The students will serve alongside established missionaries and ministries where their worldview will be broadened and, Lord willing, they will receive clarity as to what God is leading them do next.

A look at a typical week: Tuesday through Friday will be Spanish instruction and Bible classes. Saturday is serving with a ministry and missionaries. Sunday is attending a local church. Monday is a free day. Mixed within the week are outings, discipleship small groups, and a whole lot of fun!

Students will experience some excursions throughout their time to fully engage and experience the great country of Costa Rica!

GAP STUDENTS

Supporting a gap year student is an investment in a young person stepping boldly into the world to grow, serve, and discover their calling. During a gap year, students gain real‑world experience, develop maturity, and engage in meaningful work. As they serve, they deepen their relationship with God, seek His direction, and better understand the unique purpose He has for their lives.
