I have been ministering in Belize for the last 4 years alongside a local woman from Belize named Irene, whom I met while serving in youth ministry in the country. We connected over a shared passion for serving children and youth in the community who are living in poverty. I have been supporting her from Canada as she operates Hope Feeding Program, which serves meals to 25-40 children from Monday through Friday each week. Hope Feeding Program runs out of local schools and Irene’s front yard, feeding children who otherwise might not receive a hot meal during the day. In 2022 and 2024, I was able to visit Belize and assist with this ministry on short-term trips.

I feel called to serve not only children and youth attending school, but also those who are not able to attend school due to financial issues and difficult family situations. In April 2024, we began construction on a youth home/centre where we desire to accommodate local foster children.

My ministry vision is to be more hands-on in this ministry in Belize and be involved for longer periods of time, working to expand the scope of the youth home/centre. I am excited to see how God will work and lead to bring this dream to life. With my ministry partner’s knowledge of the country and local culture, and my experience working with inner-city outreaches, youth ministry, and law enforcement, I believe that God has given us the skills, experiences, and passion to serve and advocate for the children and youth of Belize.

GAP STUDENTS

Supporting a gap year student is an investment in a young person stepping boldly into the world to grow, serve, and discover their calling. During a gap year, students gain real‑world experience, develop maturity, and engage in meaningful work. As they serve, they deepen their relationship with God, seek His direction, and better understand the unique purpose He has for their lives.
