Stephanie Tix - Ultrasound Machine Broke!

Last week, our handheld ultrasound machine—which we use every single day—broke. After troubleshooting with the company, they confirmed that the probe experienced an irreparable error. It's no longer under warranty and cannot be repaired.

We’ve had this machine for six years, and it’s truly been an invaluable tool in our work caring for mothers and babies here in rural Guatemala. We use it in the clinic, in remote villages, in the mountains, and on house visits. Without it, our ability to provide safe, quality prenatal care is significantly impacted.

Here’s what we use it for:

  • Monitoring baby growth

  • Checking fetal and placental position

  • Measuring amniotic fluid levels

  • Providing reassurance to anxious moms

  • Guiding urgent care decisions

The cost of a replacement is $6,000, and we’re currently praying for individuals or churches who might feel led to help us meet this need.

If you would consider partnering with us on this, we'd be so grateful.

Thanks so much for considering it, and for always encouraging and supporting us in this ministry.

We are the founders and directors of “SION” ("Zion" in English), an evangelical ministry where we offer maternity and child nutrition services to the many mountain villages surrounding our town, San Andrés Sajcabajá, where there is little access to safe and professional medical services. Guatemala has one of the highest maternal and infant death rates in Central America.

With Stephanie’s training as a Registered Nurse and Peniel in pastoral training, our mission is to offer quality healthcare services and present the Gospel of Jesus Christ to each patient who visits, with the goal that they will accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.

In the Bible, Zion refers to the place where God dwells—and we want that to be true of our center. We want to be a light in this town, where families enter and feel safe, heard, valued, and loved; and ultimately where they discover their purpose and identity in Christ. It is a privilege to be used by God in the physical realm of health care to accomplish His purposes in the spiritual realm.

GAP STUDENTS

Supporting a gap year student is an investment in a young person stepping boldly into the world to grow, serve, and discover their calling. During a gap year, students gain real‑world experience, develop maturity, and engage in meaningful work. As they serve, they deepen their relationship with God, seek His direction, and better understand the unique purpose He has for their lives.
